Last day of summer

Suddenly we had the last day of summer, the last day to walk around barefoot or in our sandals and not wear that many pieces of clothing and just enjoy the warmth, the sun and the garden.

I went around the garden picking stones from here and there and bringing them to our creek and our pond. 021

It takes a lot of work to build a garden pond, but it is so much fun!023

My golden stegosaurus and I both enjoy our new pond! 027

We also got to enjoy the last of the flowers – hopefully they will continue to bloom for a while, in spite of the autumn weather that descended on us today.030

We’ve moved  the sofa into the green house, so this is now our new favourite reading spot.031

It is especially lovely when the citrus tree is flowering!033 (3)

We still get a little bit of produce, enough tomatoes for my husband and I to make a salad out of for lunch.042 (4)

I miss Copenhagen! I love our signposts out in the garden, I love reading the signs and thinking on the books and the places that are described.050

This is my bit of paradise, more and more now that we have a pond.

The garden just didn’t feel finished, but now it is starting to. Now the kids are all quarreling about who gets to inherit the house after us, because after the pond was dug all kids want to live here forever and ever!052

They have so much fun with the large pile of sand and gravel that is a result of the pond. Originally I was planning on barreling away the sand to different places in the garden, but since the kids started playing here I’ve changed my mind. They dig tunnels, they build village, they had a smurf funeral…!056It’s a lovely, lovely place, my garden, and it was such a lovely wonderful last day of summer.
